The digital newspaper La Gaceta de la Iberosfera publishes today a piece of news, which few media echo with the importance it deserves. Throughout yesterday, the Spanish police deployed a macro-operation against Islamist terrorism throughout Spain, with nine arrests in the provinces of Gerona, Almería and Cádiz and Tenerife; one of the so-called Canary Islands, currently the most active illegal immigrant smuggling route in Europe, where illegal immigrants from Mauritania and Morocco are disembarked on a daily basis.
The detainees – following searches in Salt (Gerona), Antas (Almeria), Algeciras and Santa Cruz de Tenerife – are allegedly involved in a network linked to the publication and dissemination on a series of websites of content related to the activities, members and sympathisers of the Islamic State.
It is common knowledge that the processes of radicalisation of Muslims take place in the sphere of deep networks, both offline and online. In other words, radicalisation towards terrorism or the most violent forms of jihadism do not only originate in social networks, but with the explicit support of local networks in Muslim communities that proliferate in the neighbourhoods of large cities or in small municipalities, such as Salt, Algeciras and Antas, where the Muslim population and the failure of the multicultural model are perfectly appreciable.
In Spain, separatism and socialism, together with the passivity of other parties, have allowed Islamism to grow and become strong in different parts of the Spanish territory. Spain is currently the country in Europe with the highest number of arrests of jihadists for two reasons: on the one hand, the effectiveness of police action despite the lack of resources; and on the other hand, because, obviously, the massive influx of uncontrolled illegal immigration means that, among those who land on Spanish shores, no small number are members of or do not reject the possibility of joining an Islamist organisation.
At the European level, the policy of uncontrolled borders and the financing of NGOs that collaborate – consciously or unconsciously – with the business model of the human trafficking mafias, making ‘reception’ an equally growing business, have increased insecurity and have allowed Islamic fundamentalism and its most radical drift to spread, threatening the lives, freedom and security of millions of Europeans; And above all, of the Muslim and foreign communities themselves, who are left defenceless against the radicals, in the absence of a state that, hiding behind its neutrality, has left control of the streets to the toughest of the immigrants.
The arrival of thousands of illegal immigrants on Spanish shores is causing the settlement of communities of Islamists that are increasingly organised and radicalised through social networks, posing a brutal threat to our security, identity and coexistence, especially in the poorest areas.
The threat to the whole of Europe is real, because once on European territory, and given the inaction of Pedro Sánchez’s government, which is complicit in the situation, and the support for Islamism shown by its communist and separatist partners, Islamists can move around Europe with complete freedom and guarantees. It is urgent that the remaining members of the Council of the Union, those who have not surrendered to multiculturalism, demand from Pedro Sánchez a radical change of measures along the lines requested in Spain by VOX, the only party that really faces the problem.
Providing the State Security Forces and Corps with more material and human resources to combat radical Islamism, which is incompatible with the West, and stepping up measures for the identification and expulsion of those who do not have the right to enter or remain in European territory are essential minimum measures if we do not want to continue deepening the problem of the Islamist radicalisation of large sectors of Muslim populations in Europe.
