Elon Musk, a name now synonymous with innovation and ambition, is a South African naturalised US entrepreneur who has left an indelible mark on the world of technology and the space industry. With his companies, Tesla, SpaceX, Neuralink and The Boring Company, Musk is literally rewriting the future of mankind.
Musk’s is a figure who often finds himself at the centre of controversy, particularly recently his Trump endorsement in the US elections and subsequent government appointment have brought him even more under the lens of his detractors.
However, it is quite evident that the criticism is mainly political in nature, Musk is right-wing, and he does not hide it, and this is already a basic fault of the entire left-wing intelligentsia, or supposedly so.
To this must be added a palpable envy for his success and the significant impact his ideas are having on society.
His companies are revolutionising crucial sectors such as automotive, aerospace and biotechnology. Musk is an example of how a visionary entrepreneur can change the world by pushing the limits of technology and challenging the status quo. And that is not acceptable if you are not a leftist.
But Elon Musk is much more than just an entrepreneur. He is a visionary who is trying to solve some of the most pressing problems of our time, such as climate change, traffic congestion and the search for new sources of energy. His companies are paving the way for a more sustainable and technologically advanced future.
Just think of Tesla, founded in 2003, a true pioneer in the field of electric vehicles.
Or Neuralink, another of the companies founded by Musk, which works on developing neural interfaces that can be implanted in the human brain with the aim of curing neurodegenerative diseases and improving the cognitive abilities of humans.
And how can we not remember the SpaceX programme, which laid the foundations for a new era of space exploration by developing reusable rockets, and how, thanks to it, Putin’s lightning offensive failed thanks to his Starlink satellites that quickly replaced the terrestrial transmission systems destroyed by the invaders who wanted to blind and paralyse the Ukrainian chain of command. Thanks to Musk’s network, however, Kiev never lost contact with the troops at the front, while the military was able to guide drones and rockets with great precision against Russian tanks, ships and other targets. And Ukrainian citizens had excellent wifi coverage that allowed them to show the atrocities of the war live to the world via smartphone.
A true visionary, in short, who never hid behind false respectability and never hid from those who criticised him.
And detractors should also be reminded that while Zuckerberg’s ‘politically correct’ social networks were so correct that they chose what was politically correct, and thus always ready to censor Trump, his X never chose what thought was right to share.
And it was probably the sum of all these factors, combined with a healthy patriotic interest in his investments, that led the Italian prime minister to publicly defend him, explaining in a very recent interview with 7 del Corriere della Sera how ‘Musk is a great personality of our time, an extraordinary innovator who always has his eye on the future. I find it natural to have a dialogue with him. Of course, there are things on which our point of view is more similar, others on which we are more distant, but that does not prevent a comparison. And, allow me, it makes me smile quite a bit who until yesterday was extolling Musk as a genius and today instead is painting him as a monster, just because he chose the ‘wrong’ camp of the barricade. I have always not thought like that’.
And we are sure that the brilliant Elon will continue to surprise the world with his incredible visions, futuristic but not too futuristic for him.
