Donald Trump returned to X (formerly Twitter) within a few days and won the first debate among Republican candidates ahead of the 2024 presidential election in the United States. He won despite not participating. How is that possible?
His best weapon is the judicial events in which he is the protagonist. Donald J. Trump was formally arrested and detained for a few minutes in Fulton County, Georgia. Thirteen counts of charges against him by the state’s attorney. He showed up in Georgia for his fourth indictment, presented by District Attorney Fani Taifa Willis, a magistrate close to the American Democratic Party. The accusation is that he tried to subvert in Georgia the election result of the presidential elections of 2020. Another 18 people are under indictment, including Rudolph Giuliani, former New York City mayor and Trump’s lawyer, and Mark Meadows, former White House chief of staff. As said, the detention lasted a few minutes.
Just long enough to post the $200,000 bail. “This is a travesty of justice. We didn’t do anything wrong. I did nothing wrong”, were the words addressed to reporters present outside the prison from tycoon. And that was the best way to get back to X.
The tycoon, in fact, published shortly after the mug shot made by the police. One meter and ninety high for 97 and a half kilos of weight. Blue eyes and hair “blond or strawberry blond”: is the description of the prisoner P01135809, that is the former president of the United States Donald Trump. With the photo he wrote: “Electoral interference. Never give up”. Never in history had a president (or former) of the United States of America been immortalized in a photo of recognition by a police body. Donald J. Trump decided to take advantage of the situation to get back on the platform in style, after the assault on Capitol Hill his account had been banned. Plus, he managed to campaign for free. In two days the post got: 247 million views, 361 thousand retweets, 1.6 million likes. Among those who retweeted the photo there is also Elon Musk, owner of the social platform, who wrote in the caption: “Next-level”. And it is precisely on X that the former president of the United States of America won the debate among the 8 candidates without even participating. Trump deliberately boycotted the Republican confrontation. Rather, he preferred to be interviewed by Tucker Carlson, a former conservative commentator on Fox News.
The interview was published on X and lasts 46 minutes. In a few days he got 260 million views, 227 thousand retweets and 900 thousand like. Numbers much higher than any other TV show. According to various polls, Trump has 60% of Republican voters in his favor. Immediately behind Ron Desantis, governor of Florida, who however did not seem particularly fit during the last debate unlike Mike Pence, former vice president and Nikki Haley, former ambassador to the UN. Only the time and the exacerbation of the election campaign will know who is really, if there is, the electoral antagonist of tyccon. What comes out of the debate that took place in Milwaukee, as well as several attacks on the incumbent president Joe Biden and his economic policy considered by all as harmful, is the same vision about China, defined as the “true great enemy”.
Also about the possibility of supporting Trump if convicted, 6 out of 8 Republican candidates said yes. Hutchinson and Christie are the ones who wouldn’t support him. All this, however, seems to interest less than zero to the 45th President of the United States of America since he commented on the debate during the interview with Carlson so: “They should not even run for president”.
